Learning about cloth and thread 21 (Perry Pull)

◆Learn about cloth and thread 21 (Perry Pull)
The previous Lucian Congress was a sturdy fabric that goes well with kogin thread, which has a strong twist, and the fabric does not deform easily.
Today's perry pull is, first of all, a fabric that goes well with any yarn . However, there are features that make it easier to stab and have a different perspective, which I will tell you about later.

◆Perry Pull basic information
⚪︎Material Cotton

⚪︎Number of stitches per 1㎠ (vertical: horizontal) 7:8

(The thread seems to be thin)

◆Impression of Perry Pull (according to Satonobo research)
⚪︎Soft but with just the right amount of tension ▶️Easy to lift the warp and stitch ⚪︎Easy to see the grain ▶️Easy to stitch even for beginners ⚪︎The warp is thin ▶️The presence of the kogin thread etc. is visible ⚪︎The part where the kogin stitch is made (vertically) Shrink ▶️ Consider using a method of stitching that suits the processing (full stitch, partial stitch, etc.) and use of adhesive interfacing.

My first impression when I picked up Perry Pull was that it resembled New Congress. However, when we tried stitching with various threads, we found that while New Congress' threads are compressed by air-containing threads or thicker threads , Perry Pull's threads can be used even with thicker threads to stabilize the placement of kogin threads , etc. It was found that the characteristics are different.
As I mentioned in my recent article on Lucian's Congress , when it comes to fabrics where the weaving threads move, I get the impression that the fabric is completed by kogin-zashi (the fluctuations in the weaving threads are eliminated). Considering that the amount of vertical shrinkage varies depending on the fabric, you may want to cut the fabric larger or expand the area to be embroidered with Kogin-zashi . I often make book covers, so I wanted to be more aware of this in the future.

⚪︎Other thoughts
Although it was a soft and gentle cloth, the tightness of the weaving threads and the adhesion of the glue were just right, making it easy to embroider. The movement of the warp threads was appropriate, and I was able to enjoy a comfortable stitching experience with all threads . I also feel that this fabric is recommended for beginners because the grain is easy to see and the presence of the kogin thread etc. is clearly visible.

I think the way the thread looks is a matter of preference, but with Tsukiyano Kogin thread, the 10 threads gave a more dignified impression than the 8 threads. Also, the fluffy threads that fall apart easily, such as Olympas and Matalbon (embroidery thread), look even more fluffy and beautiful, and I think this is a fabric that takes advantage of the advantages of thick threads .
Below is a zoomed photo of Perry Pull. For those of you who have enjoyed the research results so far, I hope you have come to understand the characteristics of cloth just by looking at the warp threads! ? I wonder if the fluffy hair on the surface releases the load (friction) when pulling out the thread after making Koginzashi? I think about it and want to try it out. (lol)

Kit that you can enjoy with Perry Pull
I will introduce it once it is developed.

◆About the compatibility of cloth and thread
As I touched on in Understanding Cloth and Thread 3 , sensibilities vary from person to person, and of course, preferences also vary from person to person. Regarding compatibility, I am writing this with the intention of conveying that the stitching comfort varies depending on the combination of cloth and thread. One of the reasons for conducting this survey is that I feel that it is a waste to distance yourself from a cloth or thread based on your first impression. The purpose of the survey is to learn about the positives, not the negatives.

◆Regarding the survey content
This information is for those who enjoy Koginzashi on their own, and was researched by Satonobo using materials he kept at home. Please note that depending on the storage environment, there may be a discrepancy in the count or weight of the fabric you have. Also, unauthorized use of photos is prohibited. I hope you have a fun Kogin time.

*Alphabets in the fabric name and numbers in the thread name are changed for convenience.
